MFT Teasers–Pure Innocence Karate Girl

Welcome back to Day 3 of MFT Teasers for the August release.  Today is my favorite teaser day – Pure Innocence Day.  There are five fabulous new PI’s being released, and today I’m showing you Karate Girl.  I stamped her on the new Tag You’re It Die-namic die and added a second tag behind my image as well.  I snuck a Notched Tag in there with a small sentiment and attached it with some twine.  The papers are Lily Bee This & That and I used this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.

2011_07300005

I finished the inside off with a strip of pattern paper with the negative side of the Small Scallop Border die and the new Fancy Flourish die.  Can I tell you that I squealed when I saw this sentiment included with the set?  I say this all the time!

Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge–No Embellishments

Happy Saturday all!  It’s time for another challenge over on the Kraftin’ Kimmie blog and Donna has thrown down the gauntlet and asked us to make a card with no embellishments!  She may have mentioned something about Clean and Simple as well, but I’m mostly ignoring that part (LOL!).

I used Mandy for my card and although she’s trying to relax, I was pretty twitchy as I made this card without any embellishments.  I kept reaching for my felt and brads and finally was able to come up with something.  I used lots of stitching to add some interest to my card.  I even mixed up the stitches on the pink panel – like my friend Michele has been known to do.

I hope you’ll come play along with us over on the Challenge Blog.  You could win a free stamp just for playing along.  While you’re there, make sure you check out what all the Krafty Girls and Guests have whipped up for your viewing pleasure as well!

MFT Teasers–I Spy à la mode

Happy Saturday and welcome back for Day 2 of MFT Teasers for the August release.  Today I have the pleasure of sharing one of the new à la modes with you.  This is I Spy and I’m loving seeing her face up close in her magnifying glass!  I stamped her on X-Press It blending cardstock (currently being re-stocked) and coloured her with copics.  I added the first part of the two part sentiment to the new Bracket Tab die and tucked it behind my image.  I also used the smallest circle in the new Open Scallop Doily Duo as a layer.

I finished the inside off with the larger size of the new Open Scallop Doily Duo and the rest of the sentiment.

MFT Teasers–Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy

Welcome to Day 1 of MFT Teasers for the August release.  August?  What the heck?  What happened to July?  Man oh man I can’t believe how time flies.

Anyway, today I have a card to show you using Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy.  This stamp set was last month’s Triple Scoop set and will now be fully released on Tuesday.  Here I’ve paired it with the new Fancy Flourish die (cut twice) as well as the Textile Rectangle die.  What you may not see – is my happy accident.  The new Bracket Tab die works beautifully with the Textile Rectangle die.  How cool is that?  I cut two and mounted them behind my sentiment for a pop of colour.  I added a couple of Pretty Posies in the bottom right corner and some pearls for interest.  The papers are all My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #30

Happy Wednesday!  I'm back from a wonderful time at CHA, but unfortunately fell ill as soon as I got home.  I've been lying low and getting ready for the MFT release - teasers start on Friday!

I did have a chance to play along with this week's sketch challenge.  I loved this sketch and used the new Pure Innocence - Water Lily along with the Textile Rectangle die and the Simply Scallops medium die.  I also snuck in a Mini Rolled Rose (currently being re-stocked) as well as a sentiment from Pure Innocence - My Balloon.

I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence - Something Special just for you as well as the Upsy Daisy die on the inside of my card.

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog and the MFT forum on SCS (look for the most recent WSC thread).  You'll need to upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch. You will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Go get sketchy with MFT!

You're Wheely Great!

Happy Monday!  I'm traveling home today from Chicago but wanted to share this cutie with you.  This is Pure Innocence - Roll With It and I've paired her with one of the MFT sketches that I never got to complete.  This was  sketch #27 and it was really fun to put together.  I used different patterns of Basic Grey Out of Print and used the 3/8" Rosette die to paper pleat the strip down the middle.  Along the bottom I ran some twine with a notched tag and a small sentiment and heart.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll see you back here on Wednesday for another MFT Sketch Challenge!

July Sketch For You to Try Take 2!

I just wanted to pop by and share my second Sketch For You To Try card.  You may remember that we're sponsored by MFT this month, and I decided to get this new Sew Nifty die and stamp set inky.  This set was actually a victim of the Canadian postal strike and didn't arrive in my mailbox until after it was released, so I was anxious to use it.  I paired it with some Cosmo Cricket Material Girl papers as well as the Jumbo Ric Rac die.  Aren't those thimble and scissors super cute?  I love the dies in this set.

I finished the inside off with the negative portion of the Ric Rac die and some more stamps from this set.

There's still time for you to play along with us.  All the details can be found on Jen's blog.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #29

Happy Wednesday and sketch day!  Today is a travel day for me as I'm on my way to the CHA Supershow in Chicago.  Starting Thursday, I'll be at Booth #2600 with MFT so make sure you come see us if you're planning to attend!  Can't wait to see my MFT sisters and my stampy friends!

It's been a couple weeks since I've been able to play along with the Wednesday Sketch challenge so I was determined to make this one!  I must admit I was happy to see some straight panels after last week's wonky, tilted ones!  I've used the You Move Me stamp and die set along with some Bo Bunny papers.  And of course, as I tend to do, I rotated the sketch.  When I stamped the sentiment, I stamped it once in red ink, and then again in black ink. I love the effect that it creates!

I just love these circular Who's That Girl sets.  This is Sunflower Who's That Girl and she is the second circular WTG image and I'm just smitten!  I stamped her on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured her with my copics.  I paired her with some Basic Grey Lauderdale papers and mounted her on the new Open Scallop Doily duo (the larger one) that is included in the VIP kit.  I also added a sunflower fashioned out of the Upsy Daisy die and a button, as well as the File Tab die with a sentiment from the set.  I used some Hot Fudge and Banana Split cardstocks on my card as well.

In addition to the release of our newest VIP Collection, we have a special gift just for you!

For my card today I've used one of Cheryl Alger's new images - Back to School Katie.  I've paired her with some Basic Grey Oxford papers as well as a notebook edge die and some cork I cut into a flower.  I love this accompanying sentiment that comes with her as well.

Your next stop along the hop is to the so very talented Annie Rodrigue - illustrator of the Moonlight Whispers line!  Thanks so much for hopping by.

Krafty Peek - Melanie

Welcome to Day 4 of Krafty Peeks for the Kraftin' Kimmie July release.  It's also Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge as well.  Carole is our hostess this week and she's challenged us to finish off the inside of our card as well.  I used Melanie for my card and her accompanying sentiment.  I had to choose her since she's in Toronto (see the CN tower?) and I live just outside of Toronto.  I paired her with some Basic Grey Wander paper.

I kept the inside pretty simple so that I could add a sentiment later on, depending on what occasion I will give the card for.  But I used some more of the same paper and another scallop border along the side.

Check out the Challenge blog for Peeks from the Krafty Girls and Guests and to link up your entry as well!  2 lucky commenters will each win 3 of the new Moonlight Whispers stamps of their choice - so comment away!  And finally, don't forget the new stamps will be available tomorrow!  See you back here later for our release hop!

Krafty Peeks - Back to School Mattie

Welcome back to Day 3 of Krafty Peeks for the July Kraftin' Kimmie release.  Today we are showing you 3 new Cheryl Alger images and this is Back to School Mattie.  But since my kids have only been out of school for a couple weeks now, we'll just refer to him as Mattie.  I love the expression on Mattie's face!  I coloured him with copics, and paired him with some Basic Grey Oxford papers.  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch for the layout and added some twine and cork for embellishment.

Don't forget to check out the Challenge blog for links to all the Krafty Girls and Guests sharing peeks today.  Also, one lucky commenter will win all three of Cheryl's images, so be sure to leave comments along the way!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll see you back here tomorrow with another Peek (it's Moonlight Whispers tomorrow!).

Krafty Peeks - Bruce

Welcome back to Day 2 of Krafty Peeks for the July Kraftin' Kimmie release.  Today we're showing you the new images illustrated by Emilie Goulet and when I saw Bruce, I knew that I needed to get him inky!  I think I've mentioned before that we part own some barbecue stores, so I have a soft spot for bbq themed stamps.  And the name....Bruce....makes me think of Finding Nemo, every time I read it or type it (let's all say it together:  "Fish are friends, not food!").  LOL!

I coloured Bruce up with my copics.  I admit that this was actually my second attempt as my greys went all wonky on my first attempt.  I actually used BG70, BG72, BG75, and BG78 for Bruce and am quite happy with how he turned out.  The layout is actually this week's CPS sketch and I added a sentiment from Little Summer Boy, since it seemed to fit well (and I love a good pun!).  The papers are October Afternoon Campfire.

Don't forget to head over to the Challenge blog for links to all the Krafty Girls and Guests sharing peeks with you today.  And one lucky commenter will win all 5 new images shown today!  I'll see you back here tomorrow for another peek.

Krafty Peeks - Sympathy

Welcome to Day 1 of Krafty Peeks for the July Kraftin' Kimmie release.  Today I have a card made with the new Sympathy set.  This set has a gorgeous flower an a whole ton of wonderful sentiments to go with it.  I decided to paper piece my flower with some Basic Grey Sweet Threads papers, but it's perfect for copic colouring as well.  I kept my card pretty simple so as to let the image and sentiment be the focus.

For a complete list of all the Krafty Girls and Guests sharing peeks today, make sure to check out the Challenge blog.  And don't forget to leave comments along the way - one lucky random commenter will win this set!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back here tomorrow for another peek!

MFT July Design Team Creative Challenge

In 2011, MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a new monthly feature, where we challenge our design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, we're On a Roll!  Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge!

I had so many ideas running through my brain for this challenge but in the end decided to go with this pincushion.  I found this idea on Pinterest and recognized the frame used as the same ones I had picked up earlier in the year from the $1 bin at Michaels.  The frame used to be metallic red but that was easily remedied with some black spray paint.  I removed the innards of the frame and hot glued some textured fabric and cotton batting in.  It's actually quite puffy and perfect for a pincushion.
I used the Rolled Flower die to cut some denim and used the Mini Rolled Roses die to cut some Strawberry Ice Cream felt and some cork (currently being re-stocked) and hot glued them on as well.  Those are some Maya Road Trinket Pins sticking out of my pincushion.

Here's a side view, although it doesn't quite show you how puffy the middle truly is.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I'll see you back here tomorrow for the start of this month's Krafty Peeks.

Saturday 9 July 2011

Coffee Fairy

Happy Saturday!  We made it through the week and it's time for another Krafty challenge over on the Krafty Girls Challenge blog.  Kimmie is our host this week and she's "tagged" us.  The challenge is to make a tag or include a tag on your card.

I've been seeing all these posts lately about making homemade iced coffee drinks and wanted to jump on the bandwagon and try it out.  I'm a big coffee fan - iced or otherwise and I liked the fact that the ingredients will supposedly keep for a month in the fridge.  I used this method for the coffee concentrate (because I wanted to make a quart/litre rather than a gallon) and although I'm usually content to add milk to mine, I decided to try out this recipe for a sweet cream to go with it.  And since I was making it, I doubled everything up for a friend.  So tomorrow I will be the coffee fairy (I need my own coffee fairy) and deliver these yummy bottles.

I used Lilybelle for my tag and the sentiment from one of the other fairies.  Really the sentiment should state that there's magic in the bottles, but what can you do?!  I used a manilla shipping tag and some Basic Grey Out of Print papers.  I threw some coffee coloured felt in there as well and tied it on with some twine.

I hope you'll come play along with us over on the challenge blog!  You could win Becky Broadsword plus two other Steven Leary stamps of your choice!  Alrighty friends - I'm off to enjoy an iced coffee.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday 8 July 2011

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Just wanted to 'fess up and let you know that I was the blog candy hopper for MFT's July Shop & Hop.  Random.org picked Holly AKA KopyKat as the winner!  Holly wins a $15 gift voucher to the MFT store just for commenting.  Free stuff doesn't get much easier than that!  Congrats Holly!  Your voucher will be on its way shortly!
